Comic Book

STEM subjects are arguably the most important, and at the same time, most difficult to teach children. According to a 2011 STEM Smart Brief, science teaching time has decreased, with 28% of the school districts across the nation spending an average of only 178 minutes per week on science instruction, compared to 323 minutes per week on math and 503 minutes per week on reading. Teachers must teach science early and must teach it often. CIAN has focused much of its efforts on augmenting classroom science curriculum at both the pre- and post-secondary education levels. For this reason, CIAN is creating an interactive virtual STEM comic book series entitled “Optics Adventures with Professor Watt and Chip” designed for elementary and middle school children. The comic series is aligned to state science standards and is designed to be an interactive tool for students to learn about science including interactive animations, quizzes, and videos.
